Description

This module introduces students to the basic concepts circuitry in communications systems. It provides students with the necessary skills to install, configure and troubleshoot basic DC circuitry, using breadboards and circuit simulator such as Multisim.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;

1.

Examine the principles of analogue and digital communications systems.

2.

Describe the components of communications systems and their interconnections

3.

Demonstrate how media and hardware are designed and tested.

4.

Build basic electronic circuits on breadboard and simulator

Teaching and Learning Strategies

Lectures and Practical laboratory sessions

Module Assessment Strategies

Use of a lab workbook to record and describe laboratory practicals.

Knowledge of the theory and practical implementation of circuitry

Repeat Assessments

A closed book exam to cover all learning outcomes

Indicative Syllabus
