Description

The purpose of this module is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to identify training and development needs at organisational and individual levels and to scope and devise a training plan and materials which will meet those needs. This module is the equivalent of the QQI Special Purpose Awards in Training Needs Identification and Design 6N3325.  

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;

1.

Demonstrate a broad range of knowledge on training and development practice and of the role of training and development across a range of organisations.

2.

Demonstrate and apply key principles and theoretically concepts underpinning training and development within a range of contexts.

3.

Select from appropriate tools and techniques to identify training and development needs.

4.

Conduct a training needs analysis to identify training and development needs and devise a training plan

5.

Design a training intervention and develop appropriate training content and materials and reflect on practice.

Teaching and Learning Strategies

This module will be delivered part-time and will include a blend of learning activities e.g. on-line  lectures (via Adobe Connect)

This will include lectures, augmented by independent learning and directed learning.  

This approach is expected to address student learning needs.

Moodle will be used as a repository of educational resources and as a means of assessment (e.g. quizzes, unloading assignments and journals)

Module Assessment Strategies

This module is 100% Continuous Assessment. Regular Moodle Quizzes (20%) through out the semester.  A Reflective Learner Record  (15%)

A project to devise a workplace training needs analysis and develop a training plan based on needs and cost benefit (40%)

Look at internal and external environmental factors which can influence training, development and education.

Consider organisational strategy, policy and mission on training and development.

Purpose of training and development in organisational and individual setting.

Benefits of training needs analysis, approaches and techniques to conduct  a training needs analysis

Training models- IDM models, Cost benefit analysis and prioitising training needs

Training interventions incorporating androgogical concepts, motivations and training methods.

The use of training aids, facilities, software and technologies in the development of training content and materials

Personal Development & Performance Management, Training Needs Analysis and gaps in skills, knowledge and attitudes.
