SAFE08039 2019 Management of Workplace Health and Wellbeing
This module will focus on the management principles and systems that impact on workers physical and mental health and wellbeing. During this module, students will gain a detailed knowledge and understanding of health and wellbeing management in a workplace setting. The learner will be able to identify and outline the core skills required to plan, implement and evaluate health promotion initiatives from a theoretical perspective.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;
Assess and manage health issues arising from exposure to physical, chemical, psychological and ergonomic hazards within the workplace.
Analyse and apply relevant legislative requirements in relation to the management of workplace health and wellbeing.
Design and implement appropriate workplace health and wellbeing management techniques to reduce risk within the organisation.
Compare and contrast the health and safety risks associated with different groups in the workplace setting, in particular; aging workers, young workers, female workers, migrant workers and shiftworkers.
Design and implement effective risk communication and training programmes for workplace health and wellbeing.
Teaching and Learning Strategies
This module will be delivered full-time.
This will include lectures and may include site visits, augmented by independent learning and directed learning. This approach is expected to address student learning needs. Moodle will be used as a repository of educational resources and as a means of assessment (e.g. quizzes, uploading assignments and journals).
Module Assessment Strategies
This module is 50% Continuous assessment and 50% Final Exam
Students will be assessed through individual projects and group projects in addition to the final exam.
