SAFE07019 2019 Occupational Safety and Health
This module will give students a foundation in occupational safety and health and highlight the links between environmental issues and health and safety in the workplace.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;
Examine the links between environmental issues and occupational safety and health issues in the workplace.
Identify a variety of hazards in the workplace and apply appropriate control measures.
Outline the parameters used for occupational safety and health monitoring.
Identify and analyse Irish and EU occupational safety and health legislation.
Communicate the need for effective management of health and safety issues in the workplace.
Teaching and Learning Strategies
This module will be delivered full time and will include lectures and practical demonstrations augmented by collaborative work, independent and directed learning.
Module Assessment Strategies
This module is 50% continuous assessment and 50% final exam.
Students will be assessed individually as well as in groups. Written reports and presentations will be used in class in addition to the final exam.
