QUSU08045 2019 Project Appraisal, Procurement and Finance
This module evaluates the different investment appraisal techniques required by decision makers. It also assesses how procurement and project financing play a vital role in modern construction project management.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;
Appraise the principles and practice of procurement in the construction / property context.
Determine the alternative forms of capital investment used by firms within the property and construction industries
Assess the various investment appraisal techniques used in the property and construction industries
Deduct how project financing plays a role in modern construction management, cashflow and project cost control
Demonstrate a critical awareness of the principles and practices of financial accounting
Teaching and Learning Strategies
This module will be delivered using blended learning techniques. This will include online lectures (via adobe connect or similar), workshops and work based learning where relevant and guest lectures augmented by independent learning and directed learning. This approach is expected to address student learning needs. Moodle will be used to upload educational material (i.e. presentations and recordings of online lectures plus supplementary reading material) and as a means of assessment (e.g. quizzes, uploading assignments and journals). This blended approach (lectures and workshops) brings students together to facilitate group learning.

This module is 40% Continuous Assessment and 60% Final exam.
