QUSU08013 2019 Construction Corporate Management
This module will provide students with knowledge of the main elements of corporate management and its relevance to contemporary practice in construction. It brings together ideas from economics, marketing, management, business and politics to develop corporate management for both contractors firms and the associated professions.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;
Assess the influence of Government policy on the construction industry
Evaluate the internal and external environment of the organisation
Evaluate appropriate strategies and make recommendations
Apply the key theoretical frameworks and concepts pertaining to leadership and motivation
Ascertain the key principles and practices of managing people
Teaching and Learning Strategies
This module will be delivered using blended learning techniques. This will include online lectures (via adobe connect or similar), workshops and work based learning where relevant and guest lectures augmented by independent learning and directed learning. This approach is expected to address student learning needs. Moodle will be used to upload educational material (i.e. presentations and recordings of online lectures plus supplementary reading material) and as a means of assessment (e.g. quizzes, uploading assignments and journals). This blended approach (lectures and workshops) brings students together to facilitate group learning.

This module is 30% continous assessment and 70% final exam.
