QUSU06042 2019 Short Form of Construction Contract and Tendering
Consideration of contract documentation and documentation appropriate to tendering for construction work, study of the responsibilities and duties of Design Team members, preparation of 'Preliminaries' section of Bill of Quantities, handling of Main Contractor and Sub-Contractor tendering documentation, tendering by traditional methods and electronically.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;
Interpret the constituent parts of the SF88 (Short Form of Contract)
Illustrate knowledge of the matters dealt with in the ‘The Liaison Committee Code of Practice’
Debate the various duties, responsibilities and authorities of the Design Team members
Prepare a ‘Preliminaries’ section of a Bill of Quantities
Setup the tendering procedure for a proposed contract - Main Contractor, Sub-Contractors - traditional tendering, ‘e–tendering’
Teaching and Learning Strategies
This module will be delivered using blended learning techniques. This will include online lectures or online students (via adobe connect or similar), and guest lectures augmented by independent learning and directed learning. This approach addresses student learning needs. Moodle will be used to upload educational material (i.e. presentations and recordings of online lectures plus supplementary reading material) and as a means of assessment (e.g. quizzes, uploading assignments and journals). This blended approach brings students together to facilitate group learning.
