QLTY09023 2013 INTEGRATED QUALITY
This module facilitates a deep appreciation of quality from its metaphysical level to its day to day practise.
It draws from the conventional sources of standards, gurus and models as well as the broader emerging field of appreciative systems.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;
Explain the fundamental principles underpinning quality.
Lead an organisation's quality initiatives based on well informed current best practice.
Evalute and Justify the various models and approaches for suitability in any given situation.
Demonstrate a deep understanding of complex human activity systems.
Apply business excellence models to facilitate self assessment, continual improvement and systems alignment/integration.
Act as an inspiration and support to others on matters of quality.

Review of various quality ‘initiatives' approaches, techniques, tools.
Systems and systems thinking
The Deming, Ackoff, Scholtes, Gharajedaghi, and Checkland approaches to systems.
Human activity systems. Complex Adaptive Systems, Appreciative Systems.
Wheatley, Block, Pirsig.
Cystems - Kennedy.
Excellence models.
Deming Prize, EFQM, MBNQA.
Management System Maturity.
Reactive, Systematic, Aligned, Integrated.
Organisational self-assessment as a strategy for continual improvement.
Using the approaches to process and results assessment advocated in the various models.

The student will be prescribed two to three textbooks to read to deepen his/her appreciation of quality as a powerful medium for transformational change.
