develop the work ethic required of  a professional actor

research and select audition and scene material, establishing a file of duologues and monologues for potential inclusion in the Audition Show or use in professional auditions

apply textual analysis and character study practically, through increasingly independent rehearsal and classroom performance of monologues and duologues

apply a broad range of vocal and physical, psychological and emotional skills and techniques to support characterisation, demonstrating an ability to select the appropriate tools from Michael Chekhov Technique to enhance characterisation.

create and perform fully developed imaginative characterisation in a broad range of parts, genres and acting styles, (Chekhov/Stanislavsky/Viewpoints/Suzuki)

creatively engage in staging and self-directing selected audition pieces  

form a view of his/her professional casting potential, and knowledge of potential areas of future employment

present her/himself to potential employers as a skilled, versatile and informed actor.

Principles of technique are embodied through theorised praxis. Classroom activity is supported by a range of reading materials.

Teaching takes place in a twice weekly workshop setting where the student is guided through a series of group and individual activities designed

to establish an  actor who can  creatively respond to a given text.

Students can be assigned an individual repeat project or compelled to re-attend the module.

Maintenance and further development of the individual actor's physical, vocal, emotional, psychological and intellectual means through solo, pair and group work on all aspects of the actor's process.
