Description

The students are introduced to basic arts, craft, model making, and simple technical drawing tools with the use of scale. They are guided through the process of building a model box that reflects the performance space which will include textures and colours, and to develop an awareness of the performer's relationship to the theatre space. Preliminary skills in drawing, collage and colour application are introduced that will nurture their visual response.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;

1.

Have preliminary model making skills and techniques and will be familiar with tools necessary in the theatre design process

2.

Demonstrate an understanding of the use of scale in two and three dimensional forms in design for theatre.

3.

Be familiar with materials and media used in creating design imagery, e.g. colour theory and paint equipment etc. 

4.

Have an awareness of health and safety issues around the use of specialised materials and equipment.

Students will learn through workshops and one-to-one demonstrations.

technical drawing: materials, scale, measurement, ground-plans, elevations

Visual: drawing skills, life drawing, different materials, colour application, colour theory, collage.
