PERF06044 2019 Design for Performance 1 - Introduction to Set Design
This module is designed as an introduction to the role of set design in the production of a play. Using practical workshops learners explore texts to develop awareness of what theatre and performance is. In a studio environment, the learner is guided through the process of designing a play. Learners recognise how to read and interpret plays from a design perspective that will reflect the emotional and imaginative world of the play. Prominence is given to nurturing personal response, and practical exercises are used to express visual language, generate curiosity and foster an imaginative approach to the work.
