NUTR09010 2019 Advanced Performance Nutrition
This module will equip you with an understanding of the skills and experience necessary to translate sports nutrition principles into practical professional advice in a range of sports settings.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;
Critically assess and evaluate the inter-relationship between nutrition, environment, individual characteristics and sports performance.
Demonstrate an ability to provide nutrition advice to a range of population groups
Critically discuss current issues in sports nutrition
Appraise the different nutritional strategies required for different types of sports e.g. strength versus endurance
Evaluate weight requirements for different sports and the nutritional implications of this
Teaching and Learning Strategies
This module will be delivered through online weekly lectures. This will consist of two hours of lectures per week as well as two hours of asynchronous learning which will consist of interactive and forum discussions and MCQ's. In addition, the learner will be expected to allocate an additional 6 hours per week for continuous assessment and additional reading.
Module Assessment Strategies
This module will consist of 100% continuous assessment which will focus on critically reviewing current evidence around the use of nutrition to improve nutrition in a variety of sports types and environments. This will be developed and delivered with different audiences in mind to assess both presentation and writing skills as well as ability to translate evidence into practice.
