MGMT08022 2019 Project Management and Finance
Formulate a scientific approach to the programming and organisation of construction projects. Apply the relevant provisions of safety legislation in the construction and civil engineering industries. Evaluate and use relevant computer software for the above functions. Evaluate the various types of contract available and asses the risk transfer in each.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;
Select and evaluate the appropriate forms of contract for risk allocation in the standard forms of contract
Discriminate and appraise dispute resolution methods used in the construction industry
Appraise the financial statements involved in company operation
Formulate a scientific approach to the programming and organisation of construction projects.
Appraise the Project Management and Appraisal Guidelines of Transport Infrastructure Ireland
Teaching and Learning Strategies
The teaching and learning strategy is based on the use of both direct verbal and visual instruction (theory lectures, presentations and practical and project briefings), and aural learning by giving instruction and guidance during project work and assignments.
Group interaction and enquiry-based learning is encouraged during project work using group feedback to review progress and facilitate group discussion and collaboration.
The learning is also supplemented by independent learning with library, on-line and digital resources available for learners to research publications and knowledge for assignments, project work and to complement theory from lectures.
This strategy is accommodated by providing four hours per week of theory lectures
