Description
After a period of consultation with the staff and with ongoing feedback and review, students complete a portfolio of writing reflecting their focus and interests.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;
1.
Evaluate their progress through various genre and forms of writing to date.
2.
Propose, develop and produce a body of writing.
3.
Integrate their research within their writing practice.
4.
Develop a personal creative voice within their writing practice.
5.
Collaborate with staff and students in the creative development of their work and reflect on writing practice.
6.
Anticipate contexts and future applications for their writing and plan accordingly.
Teaching and Learning Strategies
Classes will consist of a series of seminars by outside practitioners providing insight into current industry practices.
There will be regular review and feedback workshops where work and its progress is evaluated in a group context.
Module Assessment Strategies
Engagement with the workshops and seminars.
Engagement with delivery of the final work, whether public performance, published online or in print, or realisation elsewhere.
The progression from proposal through development and final work.
The depth of and critical context provided by their personal research.
The coherence and quality of the overall portfolio of work.

Indicative Syllabus
Personal engagement: The student will be developing skills and strategies for self-directed, motivated work via
- Their management of time and resources towards delivering a body of work.
- Their research within critical, social and historical contexts
- Progress and revision of the body of work in consultation with the outside practictioners, the staff and their peers.
The student will be working towards the realisation of a body of work within a real world context
- Series of engagements with professionals in the field.
- Networking and participation in industry events, festivals, readings etc.
- Contribution in preparation and management of the the final outcome of the year, a graduation showcase event.
- Participation in a shared group project
The students will prepare a series of professional tools for their practice, website, headshot, cv etc.
