Description

The key objective of this module is to enhance people management skills in a working environment. The module aims to introduce learners to the main areas that an employer should or in most cases, are legally obliged to attend to, with regard to the employment and management of people. It examines processes, practices, and procedures associated with HR management and administration with particular focus on performance management and employee relations.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;

Describe and evaluate consequences and contexts of employee reward

Describe and assess employee relations procedures

4.

Conduct negotiations at an elementary level

Teaching and Learning Strategies

This module will contain a mixture of lecture and tutorial format as well as practical components.

A traditional classroom is used for teaching purposes for the delivery of Human Resource Management 2. The learning environment is designed to foster a shared sense of ownership and responsibility for the learning and development. At the beginning of the semester the participants are issued with a detailed module curriculum which includes the module learning outcomes, a class schedule, the necessary reading material and the assignment briefing document and marking criteria. Participants also have access to Moodle, the College’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). In addition the learners participate in practical sessions using case studies and will develop specific Human Resource Management skills. Relevant case studies are used to bring the material to life.

The module will be assessed by a final examination and a range of continuous assessments including written assignment and MCQs
