Description

This module is designed to provide students with a critical understanding of key people management processes and practices in order to equip students with skills in the functional area of Human Resource Management.   It will provide them with the knowledge required to effectively lead teams and manage people in the workplace.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;

1.

Describe the HR Planning process and appraise its purpose in business.

2.

Describe the steps in the recruitment and selection process.

3.

Write a training programme.

4.

Evaluate methods of performance appraisal and the contribution of performance management to engagement.

5.

Explain the role of remuneration and reward and its link to performance.

6.

Examine employee relations practices.

7.

Describe the importance of diversity in the workplace.

Teaching and Learning Strategies

This module will be delivered using online lectures with the provision of support material for directed independent learning. 

Module Assessment Strategies

Assessment will consist of continuous assessment and an end of Semester examination. There will be two multiple choice quizzes between week 5 and week 11.

Repeat Assessments

The repeat asessment procedure will be to complete any failed elements- continuous assessment or final exam.
