Description

This module builds on the module Managing People 1 and aims to provide the non HR student with the knowledge required to effectively manage people in the workplace.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;

1.

Evaluate the role of the professional /line manager in managing people at work.

2.

Design and develop appropriate training and development interventions for your chosen sector.

3.

Demonstrate an understanding of the employment relationship and the pscyhological contract.

4.

Evaluate the effectiveness of various approaches to motivating and rewarding employees in your chosen sector.

5.

Assess one's own personal effectiveness with respect to managing people and develop a personal development plan in this regard.

Teaching and Learning Strategies

This module will be delivered through a combination of lectures and workshops. There will be an emphasis on how the knowledge developed is applied in practice by line managers through the use of appropriate case studies and other relevant exercises.

Module Assessment Strategies

This subject will be assessed on a continuous basis through a combination of appropriate assessments.

Repeat Assessments

Repeat assessments will be developed in accordance with the requirements of the module.
