Description

This module will equip students with the core concepts and key competencies required for working within the field of health, health promotion and wellness.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;

Demonstrate they have a detailed knowledge and understanding of the core concepts in health promotion and wellness practice

Illustrate they have detailed knowledge and understanding of core competencies required for health promotion practicioners

Critically appraise health related strategies and polices

Self-reflect on the broad nature of health and health promotion work

Develop evidence based health promotion related tools and resources

Teaching and Learning Strategies

The educational elements will be provided by the Institute of Technology Sligo

Additional lecturing, as required, may be provided by outside specialists and practitioners

Online delivery is proposed with flipped classroom type lecturers, online tutorials and reflective tasks

Module Assessment Strategies

This module will be assessed on the basis of 100% continuous assessment.

Some or all of the following assessment modes may apply; practical projects, development of health promotion tools, development of self reflective professional practice logs

Repeat Assessments

The programme allows students to progress to a next stage if they have failed to attain the pass mark for a particular module. A student may be allowed to carry up to 10 credits into a new stage.  This policy is at the discretion of the examination board.
