Description

Learners will be equipped with core skills and competencies to be able to define the boundaries of health promotion including the core principles underlying health promotion practice.  The learner will also be able to identify and outline the core skills required to plan, implement and evaluate health promotion initiatives from a theoretical perspective.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;

1.

To examine theoretical principles for defining health promotion.

2.

Outline, describe and interpret core principles required for effective health promotion practice.

3.

Describe and categorise how to promote ones' health at various levels and using various approaches.

4.

Source, select and present relevant health related data to illustrate the core skills required in planning, implementing and evaluating health promotion initiatives.

5.

To communicate and present specific health promotion related information in module area.

6.
To be able to self-examine performance in terms of seminar performance and receive constructive feedback from peers and tutors.

Teaching and Learning Strategies

Students will engage in both lectures and practical workshops to learn the basic principles of health promotion practice

Practicals will allow students to explore and learn the broad remit of health promotion practice and the activities it encompasses

Module Assessment Strategies

Students will be assessment by means of a terminal exam and also through 2 core pieces of continuous assessment

Repeat Assessments

Students are required to pass all elements of the module
