ENVR06085 2020 Environmental Enquiry Based Learning 1
This module provides an opportunity for students to work in groups and to practice transferable skills. The student will integrate and apply the knowledge in scenarios that are designed to draw on, expand and develop their understanding of issues and content associated with other Modules in the semester and with programme outcomes.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;
Identify knowledge gaps and source and undertake self‑learning to fill the gaps.
Participate effectively in a structured team environment.
Collaboratively solve cross disciplinary problems and reflect on their learning experiences.
Employ and interpret scientific data to solve Environmental scenarios.
Communicate information in a range of formats to a variety of audiences.
Teaching and Learning Strategies
This module is 100% Continuous Assessment. The approach provides a learning strategy based on research-focused processes where the students investigate questions or problems of wide scope. They must use evidence-based reasoning and creative problem-solving to reach a conclusion, which they defend or present.
This approach is expected to address student learning needs. Moodle will be used as a repository of educational resources.
Module Assessment Strategies
The module comprises a number scenarios, typically running over a period of three weeks each, in which the students apply knowledge to solve the question or problem. Normally this will be achieved in a group setting. in which students are collectively & individually responsible to deliver their work in a professional manner according to agreed criteria & timeline(s). These Include, but are not restricted to: case studies; research projects; data handling analysis and recommendations; interviews; oral presentations; production of written information/awareness raising documents, employer-focussed reports, policy recommendations.
Students are given clear instructions at the beginning of each scenario outlining the particular issue. The marking scheme for each scenario includes marks for both process and product mark.
