Description

This module will enable learners to develop skills in the area of digital creative design for business. This will include using Industry Standard Applications and templates.  The skills being developed will have crossover benefits for the delivery of electronic and print media.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;

Develop techniques to create sophisticated images in a flexible fashion, with more control over the quality and impact of the final image

2.

Apply the principles of desgin to projects

3.

Demonstrate fundamental concepts in web design & apply these to the development of a website

4.

Describe web site hosting features & types of hosting offered by companies

The course will use a combination of direct instruction/discussions strategies and active/experiential learning will be used to improve student learning.

Indicative Syllabus

Multimedia Content Development - Develop techniques to create and modify images, toolbox and palettes, masks and channels, layers, special effects with filters, 3D Animation, contrast with levels and curves, resolution, image size, the histogram, creating atmosphere, storyboards, producing and printing consistent colour using Industry Standard Application

Design Usability - Fundamentals of document design (balance, positive and negative space), typography, differentiate between bitmap and victor graphics, utilize colour, swatches and gradients, RGB, CMYK, storyboards, import and export files, and adjust print settings.

Web Page Creation - webpage creation, design principles (balance, positive and negative space),etc, critique various web interfaces.  Plan website using storyboard, create and apply basic CSS, process of testing and uploading a site and hosting a site, evaluate the importance of site maintenance, SEO, Google Ad words etc, using Industry Standard Applications or templates etc.
