DSGN07100 2019 Work Placement (Elective)
The student will be placed in a suitable organisation and should be integrated into the design environment as much as possible. The placement will begin at the beginning of semester six and the student is expected to spend at least 12 weeks in the role.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;
confidently work in a design-led environment.
apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations.
describe the operational practices within the host enterprise.
work as a team member and have developed communication and interpersonal skills.
describe the quality assurance procedures in the host enterprise.
Teaching and Learning Strategies
The module offers the opportunity for students to put into practice skills gained through their studies.
Learning is work-led with the help and support of an industry supervisor and work colleagues.
Module Assessment Strategies
The work placement shall be assessed on the basis of visits by tutors, a diary of work, a final presentation and a report submitted by a senior member from the organisation in which the student is placed.
Indicative Syllabus
Complete induction at the host enterprise.
Complete a weekly diary of work activities.
The learner will perform their duties for their employer in an acceptable manner.
