Description

This module will build on the practical experience in the application of graphic design software to projects that students gained in Digital media for Design 1. Students will learn to use more advanced image editing techniques and apply the same to more complex design projects. Students will also learn to use Microsoft Powerpoint and apply the same to design projects and presentations.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;

1.

Demonstrate basic proficiency with digital media by applying those skills to project work and presentations.

2.

Demonstrate basic proficiency with Microsoft Powerpoint as applied to an interactive presentation.

3.

Understand fundamental graphic design principals by applying them to digital project work.

4.

Teaching and Learning Strategies

The subject will be evaluated by a combination of tutorials and projects.

Module Assessment Strategies

Assessment is continuous and is undertaken at the conclusion of each block or project. Projects are assessed by the assignment of marks to various project deliverables. The percentages assigned to deliverables may vary between projects.

Project deliverables may include Research, Conceptual development of ideas, Design Development/methodology, Prototyping, final design implementation. A percentage mark is assigned for each deliverable, adding to a total a total of 100%. Each project is assigned a percentage of the overall module mark dependent on project length.

The module marks assigned to each project are typical not of equal weighting, as more complex projects are given to students towards the end of the module and these usually receive the highest weighting.

Repeat Assessments

On failure of the module, the student will be issued with a repeat project/projects that will satisfy the module learning outcomes.
