The module endeavours to improve the employability skills of the students with particular emphasis on CV and Interview preparation and on the job soft skills to be an effective team member.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;
Identify sources of information on job opportunities.
Create a comprehensive CV and cover letter to effectively market themselves.
Demonstrate the necessary skills to undertake a job interview.
Design and deliver an effective oral presentation supported by information communication technology.
Identify and apply on the job soft skills.
Maximise the potential of the induction process.
Teaching and Learning Strategies
Students will be required to actively engage with the material presented in the lectures. A number of strategies will be used to achieve this objective to include the following;

Preparing and researching, job description, person specification, cultural fit, instilling confidence and reducing anxiety, how to dress for the interview, body language, listening and answering questions, asking questions, handling difficult questions, interview follow-up, assessment centres, psychometric tests
Presentation Skills
Overcoming communication apprehension, nonverbal communication in public speaking, structure in oral presentations, visual aids to enhance your oral presentations, guidelines to cope with problems and opportunities in the question and answer session
On the job soft skills
Team dynamics, leading teams. meeting preparation, writing the agenda, action minutes, time management, stress management
