Description

This module aimed at developing the students capabilities involving the planning and programming of construction work. This will include Site Planning and Management, Production Planning and Control. The student will develop the knowledge and skills required to plan and control construction work activities and develop an understanding of the management responsibilities involved. Time,Cost, Quality Health and Safety and Environmental considerations will be discussed.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;

Illustrate an understanding of Construction Planning and Organisation

Assess the methods used for Site Planning and Management

3.

Examine the factors that affect Production Planing and Control of Construction Projects

4.

Compare the affects relating to the different production parameters

5.

Evaluate the principles of controlling and reporting on costs of a construction project

Teaching and Learning Strategies

This module will be delivered using blended learning techniques. This will include lectures and workshops site visits were appropriate and augmented by independent learning and directed learning. This approach is expected to address student learning needs. Moodle will be used to upload educational material (presentations plus supplementary reading material) and as a means of assessment (e.g. uploading of assignments) This blended approach (lectures and workshops) brings students together to facilitate group learning

This module is 40% Continuous assessment and 60% final exam.
