Description

This course focuses on network services required by converged applications in a complex network.

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Configure standard ACLs, extended ACLs and IPv6 ACLs.
  • Monitor a network using SNMP and Cisco SPAN.
  • Develop knowledge about trends in networking including IOT, Cloud Computing and SDNs.
  • Configure and troubleshoot network devices in order to resolve common issues with switches, OSPF, EIGRP, and STP in both IPv4 and IPv6 networks.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;

1.

Implement and troubleshoot IPv4 and IPv6 ACLs

2.

Monitor Network performance using SNMP and Cisco SPAN

3.

Understand networking trends such as IOT, Cloud computing and SDNs

4.

Troubleshoot end-to-end connectivity in a small to medium sized organisation

Teaching and Learning Strategies

Simulation-based learning activities promote the exploration of networking concepts and allow students to experiment with network behaviour.

Hands-on labs help students develop critical thinking and complex problem solving skills.

Module Assessment Strategies

Formative assessment - 4 CCNA Connecting Networks quizes held on a weekely basis worth 50%. Students will be allowed to choose their best 3/4 quizes.

A summative practical exam on packet tracer to test the students ability to configure and troubleshoot networking concepts to meet the CCNA Connecting Networks requirements, this will be worth 50% CA.

Repeat Assessments

Repeat quizes and/or practical to examine the learning outcomes that have not been achieved.
