The aim of this module is to provide the student with computer skills which they can utilise in pursuit of their academic qualification and are relevant for application in their chosen career path.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;
Create a business presentation using application software.
Prepare professional business documents and reports using word processing software.
Analyse business information using spreadsheet software.
Describe information systems and technology infrastructure components.
Combine elements of productivity applications to produce a professional business report.
Teaching and Learning Strategies
The student will engage with the content of the module through pre-lecture reading, informative video presentations, lectures in computer labs and quizzes.
The student will develop an understanding of module content through the practical use of prescribed software applications to complete examples and the identification of emerging technologies that could improve completion of tasks.
The student will apply their learning through the use of software applications to complete practical examples and exercises.

LO1 - Create a business presentation using application software.
- Apply advanced presentation software functionality in the preparation of business presentations
- Preparation of presentations to convey concise information in a format compatible with the content being delivered
- Design presentations to maintain participant interest

LO2 – Prepare professional business documents and reports using word processing software.
- Apply advanced word processing software functionality in the preparation of business reports
- Design and prepare business reports in a professional format

LO3 - Analyse business information using spreadsheet software.
- Apply spreadsheet software functionality in the preparation of financial reports
- Design and prepare financial accounting reports
- Create reports that use management accounting information designed to assist decision making
- Design and prepare spreadsheet reports that present relevant information in a numeric and graphic format to facilitate understanding, interpretation and application by a variety of users
