Description

The module will enable students to understand the essential and relevant principles in Human Biology which will act as a basic foundation for later modules in Biochemistry and Human Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;

1.

Describe and apply various basic cocepts of Human Biology including:Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Introductory Genetics

2.

Perform a range of experiments accurately and safely.

3.

Source, select and record scientific data individually and in teams.

4.
Communicate effectively orally and in writing scientific information using correct spelling and grammar.
5.
Demonstrate time management skills.

Teaching and Learning Strategies

.

Module Assessment Strategies

Self-assessment tests and quizzes and other forms of formative assessment are provided to students to check their own progress towards achieving the learning outcomes of the module and to motivate learning. Laboratory skills and report-writing ability are assessed as part of the practical work performed during the module. Regular summative tests are used to encourage engagement with the module, monitor progress and provide feedback. The student must reach an assigned gate ( mark) in the final exam and achieve 40% overall to pass the subject.

Repeat Assessments

.

Indicative Syllabus
